Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) June 30, 2010

Deer Valley Counseling, a rapidly expanding counseling clinic offering a wide range of counseling services, has named Kelly Morris (http://deerval.com/KellyMorris.htm) to the position of Director of the Program for Parents of Children with Special Needs, starting July 3, 2010. In this newly created position, Morris will report directly to Deer Valley Counseling Founder and Clinical Director, Sandra Nettles.

“Kelly has outstanding experience working with parents of children with special needs. Our focus as counselors tends to be on the child with special needs, but the parents need attention too. If the bond between parents is strong, and each is healthy both physically and emotionally, then the child with special needs will receive better care,” explained Nettles.

“I am excited to be joining the Deer Valley Counseling clinical staff. I enjoy helping people with many problems, such as depression or grief, but my greatest passion is helping parents of children with special needs (http://deerval.com/ParentsOfSpecialNeedsChildren.htm),” said Morris. “What appeals to me most about Deer Valley Counseling is their commitment to the highest standards of client care. I look forward to expanding that care to include parents who are striving to provide the best care possible for their children, while often neglecting themselves.”

Morris joins the Phoenix, Scottsdale and Mesa-based Deer Valley Counseling from Resilient Relationships, LLC, where, as founder, she provided coaching for couples with children with special healthcare needs. She also created and lead workshops for couples with children with special needs on topics such as creating and maintaining healthy relationships, keeping healthy boundaries, and workshops for fathers of children with special needs.

Prior to Resilient Relationships, Morris worked at Lifetime Marriage, where she helped facilitate two-day intensive marriage counseling sessions. Morris also worked at the Adolescence Substance Abuse Program (ASAP), where she provided group therapy for adolescents with substance abuse issues.

Morris holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology, a Masters Degree in Professional Counseling and is a Licensed Associate Counselor in Arizona.

Morris has personal experience with the relationship and parenting issues associated with raising a child with special healthcare needs. In 1988, Morris gave birth to a son who was diagnosed with a rare brain disorder, resulting in profound cognitive and physical delays, seizures, and autism. Kelly resides in Phoenix with her husband and two sons.
